Achieving Net Zero will require a transformation in land use across the UK. Our government will need to drive and reward decisions that farmers and land managers make towards a low carbon future, and shape demand for products from more sustainable land use.

For our March CSEN monthly talk we are delighted to be joined by:

  • Jonathan Baker, Head of Future Farming Programme Policy and Strategy at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). Jonathan will talk to us about the UK Government's policies and strategies in this area, including the landmark Agriculture Bill which became law in November 2020.

  • Janet Dwyer, Professor of Rural Policy at the University of Gloucestershire and Director of the Countryside and Community Research Institute.  Prior to moving into academia Professor Dwyer’s career included spells working for a government agency and an independent policy think tank.

This talk will be held via Microsoft Teams. Joining details are below and will be emailed to you before the event. Most, but not all, government departments have enabled MS Teams. However, if you cannot access Teams through your work device you should still be able to join through a personal laptop or phone.

It may take a few minutes to connect to the meeting and so we encourage attendees to dial in 5 minutes before the start time.
