Volunteering Opportunities

Below are a range of volunteering opportunities you can get involved in throughout October. This includes some of the Food and Farming themed opportunities we circulated in our monthly newsletter – for those who might have missed it! 🌱

Nationwide opportunities

Explore food-growing and community support projects across the UK:

FoodCycle – help cook and serve nutritious meals using surplus food

Wwoof – volunteer on organic farms and learn sustainable practices

Trussell Trust – support food banks and community outreach

Sign up to one of the upcoming volunteering days with the Canal and River Trust in Birmingham, to help revive the towpaths and make a real difference for everyone who enjoys the canals!

You can join as a volunteer or step up as a volunteer lead. Volunteer leads will receive full training prior to the day.

Typical Plan

9:30 am – 10:00 am Arrival to site and assigned PPE. Followed by the Pre-work Briefing and Health and Safety talk.

10:00 am – 12:30 pm Walk to the location of the days works. Then beginning the task.

12:30 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch break. Not every site will be in easy walk to shops so everyone should bring their own refreshments with them.
