Volunteering Opportunities Spring/Summer 2025

Thank you to everyone who came to see us at our volunteer stall for this year's CSCEN Conference! It was great meeting people who were so enthusiastic about environmental volunteering and passionate about improving nature in their area.

As promised, attached below is the online document for environmental opportunities occurring this spring/summer across the UK, rearranged into groups by region. These opportunities include days such as tree planting, wildlife reporting, beach cleans, gardening, citizen science and more. Do make sure to register your interest, as many of these opportunities fill up quickly.

We will also be posting a volunteering 101 video shortly, which will give guidance on taking up volunteering leave!

North East volunteering with Tyne Rivers Trust

I've recently started volunteering with Tyne Rivers Trust using volunteering leave offered by HMRC. The trust works throughout the catchment area of the river Tyne and its tributaries on projects including tree and hedgerow planting and maintenance, river and beach cleaning, riverbank repair and invasive species monitoring and control.

Arranging volunteering opportunities with the trust is super convenient and is done via an online portal which displays all opportunities a month in advance, allowing you to sign-up for tasks according to activity and location. Tasks generally take place every Wednesday and occasionally on Saturdays.

More information on volunteering with the trust can be found at https://www.tyneriverstrust.org/support-us/volunteering/.
