About this event

Did you know…

The global apparel and footwear industry produced more greenhouse gases than France, Germany and the UK combined in 2018, totalling 2.1 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions?

The fashion industry is one of the most carbon intensive sectors, reported as a top global polluter and a main driver behind deforestation. Join us on July 21st for a sustainable clothing masterclass as Leah and Alex will delve into the real impact of our wardrobe by following the journey of the timeless combo: jeans & t-shirt. From the cotton fields, to manufacturing to transport, retail and landfill, you will find out the global impact of our clothing.

Zero Waste Scotland will then take us closer to home, as they share their research on the impact of the clothing industry in Scotland from consumer behaviour to carbon impact and waste.

We will also be joined by Sioda, a Scotland-based online clothing rental service with social justice and ethical causes at the fore-front of their business model, as they show us that it’s not all doom and gloom and we have the power to make changes in the apparel industry.

To finish we will hear from Cashmere Circle, a collective of cashmere designers, textile specialists and sustainability experts on loving our clothes for longer through their unique and inspiring approach to embracing a circular economy as champions for change.

Please do join us!
