Lead Analyst: UK ETS scope expansion, DESNZ

Job Description: Carbon Pricing Analysis team is looking for an experienced analyst for a key role to support the development of the UK Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).
Expanding the scope of the UK ETS involves including additional sectors in the scheme and thereby capping a greater proportion of UK emissions. This will further contribute to delivering net zero and UK carbon reduction targets at the lowest cost to industry. Subject to further consultation on the details of implementation, we intend to expand the scope of the UK ETS to include Energy from Waste and Maritime emissions, as well as the non-pipeline transport of carbon dioxide. This is an excellent opportunity to work on developing a policy area that cuts across several of the department’s responsibilities, with a range of policy and analyst colleagues across HMG and Devolved Administrations.
