Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteering opportunity for Birmingham based civil servants!

We’re launching an exciting new volunteering initiative with the Canal & River Trust, and we’d love for you to get involved!

Many of us have three days of volunteering leave each year and often these go unused. We’ve started an initiative to encourage colleagues across Government to use their volunteer days and get their hands dirty with some fresh air and taking the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across their teams and wider Government. This initiative is a great way to use your volunteering leave make  a tangible impact on the environment and our local community in a place for growth in Birmingham.

The volunteering sessions will involve litter picking, weeding, and general upkeep of Birmingham’s canal side, (we might even be able to get out on the kayaks to remove litter from the canal if we’re lucky!) ultimately helping to improve these vital green and blue historic spaces for everyone to enjoy. Did you know that Birmingham even has more canals than Venice??
