Chris Boardman addressing the Cross Government Cycling Network 25 September
Chris Boardman, the Government's Active Travel Commissioner, former Olympic cyclist and Tour de France Stage winner will address the the next Cross Government Cycling Network meeting.
The meeting will be held on Teams on 25 September 2024 at 2pm. I hope you might come along to hear from him and start to plan the next year of cycling activities.
As active travel ambassador, Chris will provide us with the benefit of his experience in encouraging people to cycle, engaging with employers and authorities to improve facilities, and making the case for cycling. No doubt he will also reflect on his cycling activities from the Olympics, to the streets of Manchester to his recent tour to the Paris Olympics to promote active travel.
His contribution will complement the wider discussion of the meeting that is intended to help plan for the activities and efforts that members can make over the coming year to encourage more people to cycle, improve facilities, establish service sand cultivate community in departments and institutions across government.
Alongside Chris we will also hear
from the Dept of Transport on transport policy,
from the CSSC Sports and Leisure on forthcoming activities and campaigns, (NB there is a Active Wellbeing Challenge right now focussed on cycling)
reflections on Bike Week 2024 and early plans for next year
plans for an event with the Active Travel Commissioner for South Yorkshire in Sheffield.
So please make a date in your diaries to come along and hear from Chris and your colleagues to help develop your plans to encourage more cycling in 2024-5. This is the Teams link to join the meeting:
